work this earth is an intervention and performative action that took its momentum from the pulpit of the redeemed christian church of god, nigeria. using soil scavenged from the church site, eps carried out performances in which she marched on the soil to intervene on the contested rights of minorities within the church and in wider society. moving beyond a hyper-localised concern for minority rights, eps drew on other countries across africa whose states implemented anti-gay laws largely sanctioned by its biggest pentecostal churches. collecting the soil from their sites, eps exercise in freedom attempts to recreate those territories in other regions to contest autonomous rights and religious bodily impositions.
